Ruby is a Champaign Burmese. She is a year and half old in this expression but she is a much older soul. The Burmese breed was kept by monks for generations. She constantly reminds me of her regal ancestry.
She loves to play fetch and is liberal with her kisses. She has other doglike traits, such as going for walks and joining me in every activity. When I have a problematic day she will curl up with me and comfort me. This only lasts for a while before she is standing on my chest giving me an evil look. I know this look to mean it is time to get up and go for a walk. While this is the last
thing I would choose to do, I make myself get up and comply. In this way she keeps me from remaining in bed and wasting away.
When she is unpleased, such as when it is cold and nasty out or if I am engaged in something and not giving her her proper do she turns her back to me and grunts. I have tried to think of a way to convey what this sounds like and I can only say, imagine a mortally wounded creature, in it’s last throws of life, times 10, exponentially.
She keeps me engaged in day to day trivial matters and distracts me from day to day physical maladies. For this I am most
thankful.

I promise Charlie Brown, I won't pull the football away this time!
Go ahead, pet me.
Even when she was young I knew there was a beast inside.
